Wieland feels the urge to show the world that an object in weathered form has more character and exposes a richer history than an object that’s still untainted. He highlights the beauty of weathering by enclosing his objects in very intricate miniature scaffolding constructions; this work method, which results in architectonic structures and an elevation of the object, creates a fascinating play between silhouette, proportion, and meaning.
