About
Wieland Vogel is born in Heusden, 1980. In 2007 he graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven, department ‘Man and Living’
with a chandelier called “Aureool a.k.a. Halo’. Li Edelkoort was his first sale, so that was a pretty good start! During his studies he
did internships at designer Piet Hein Eek and jewelry designer Ted Noten. Wieland now works as an independent designer/artist,
living in a beautiful old monastery in Eindhoven. He also got a lot of experience by working as freelancer with different designers
such as Maarten Baas, Joost van Bleiswijk and Alexander Pelikan, but most important, he is an independent designer and artist.
Vision
Honesty is the most important thing in my designs. When I design a bench the upholstery would never covers the construction,
because it would hide the beauty underneath, where literally and figuratively the strength is of the design. What I repeatedly show in
my work are the elements of Time, Space and Light. I want to show in my design that these elements are inseparable of each other
and go hand in hand. Detail, subtlety and refinement are so important, especially when I am designing a light object/lamp. Never
stop struggling with concepts and forms. Keep on doing this and it will makes you a better designer.. |
